En preescolar, podemos tener hasta 20 alumnos por clase, con un profesor y un ayudante en el aula. En los cursos primero a octavo, podemos tener hasta 23 alumnos con un profesor.

El tamaño medio de las clases es de 15 alumnos por clase, con un rango de 11 a 23 en cada clase.

Nuestra ratio media de alumnos por profesor es de 11 alumnos por miembro del personal.

Los estudiantes de kindergarten a octavo grado usan uniformes, que pueden ser ordenados a través de Lands' End. Una amplia selección de ropa de uniforme aceptable y accesorios está disponible en www.landsend.com/school (debe seleccionar St. Joseph School, Martinsburg, para ver las selecciones). Nuestra identidad católica realmente nos distingue en la forma en que preparamos a nuestros estudiantes para ser buenos líderes cristianos en la comunidad durante el resto de sus vidas. Nuestra fe en el Evangelio nos impulsa a ser "hacedores de la Palabra y no sólo oidores" (Ja 1:22). Los alumnos viven su fe sirviendo a los demás, lo que a menudo lleva a otros a hacerlo también. A través de una variedad de proyectos de servicio, actividades, oradores y excursiones, se anima a nuestros alumnos a ser hombres y mujeres jóvenes para los demás, incluso cuando esto les saca de su zona de confort. Es esta entrega la que permite a los alumnos vivir su fe y elegir lo que es bueno y moral a lo largo de sus vidas.

En Saint Joseph School, nuestra misión es guiar a cada alumno para que sea fiel a Jesucristo. La identidad católica del colegio es vital para ayudar a nuestros profesores y alumnos a vivir el mandamiento de Cristo: "Amaos los unos a los otros como yo os he amado" (Juan 13:34). Historia de la escuela

Las Hijas de la Caridad de Emmitsburg, Maryland, fundaron la escuela Saint Joseph el 4 de septiembre de 1883, en un edificio arbolado de dos plantas con cuatro aulas en East Stephen Street. El edificio arbolado de la escuela se trasladó al lado oeste de South Queen Street a finales de la década de 1880.

En 1905, se introdujo en el sistema escolar una escuela secundaria de cuatro años, y el edificio escolar de madera fue sustituido en 1913 por un edificio de ladrillo de ocho aulas y dos plantas. El edificio fue inaugurado el 14 de octubre de 1914 por el reverendo William Anthony McKeefrey. La primera promoción que se graduó de la escuela secundaria fue una clase de ocho estudiantes en 1915.
A finales de la década de 1960 se terminó el edificio del instituto, con cuatro aulas.

En 1938 se construyó y dedicó un gimnasio, y el equipo de baloncesto Saint Joseph Crusaders atrajo a espectadores de todo el estado. El equipo de baloncesto acudía continuamente a la competición estatal de Virginia Occidental y volvió victorioso en 1967.

El instituto cerró en 1970, y los últimos alumnos se graduaron en la promoción de 1970.

En 2000, la escuela Saint Joseph se trasladó al otro lado de la calle Stephen, al actual edificio escolar. El antiguo gimnasio fue derribado en 2006, y el edificio actual alberga un nuevo gimnasio. En 2023, el edificio de ladrillo de ocho habitaciones en Queen Street se convirtió en el hogar de nuestra escuela intermedia y el edificio de cuatro habitaciones de la escuela secundaria ahora sirve como nuestro edificio de preescolar.

Nuestro colegio está situado en el centro de Martinsburg, Virginia Occidental, una comunidad micropolitana del área metropolitana de Washington, D.C. Saint Joseph School, la única escuela católica de la región oriental de Virginia Occidental, atiende a seis parroquias católicas en las 530 millas cuadradas de la región oriental de Virginia Occidental y es una de las 24 de la diócesis de Wheeling-Charleston. Actualmente, la escuela Saint Joseph atiende a más de 400 alumnos desde infantil hasta octavo curso. Abriremos una escuela secundaria para el curso 2025-26. El plan para la escuela es un modelo de inscripción progresiva, lo que significa que a partir del año académico 2025 (otoño de 2025), los niveles de noveno y décimo grado se ofrecerán y se basarán en el campus de la escuela actual. A partir de ahí, el instituto irá madurando y se irán añadiendo cursos cada año. La primera promoción será la de 2029.

Consejo Asesor de Escuelas Católicas

Saint Joseph School es miembro del Departamento de Escuelas Católicas de la Diócesis de Wheeling-Charleston. Estamos gobernados por nuestro párroco local, el Superintendente Diocesano, y en última instancia, el Obispo de la Diócesis de Wheeling-Charleston.

Además de nuestros órganos de gobierno, contamos con un Consejo Asesor de la Escuela Católica que asesora al Director y al Párroco sobre asuntos escolares. Este Consejo Asesor se reúne trimestralmente y está formado por miembros de dentro y fuera de la escuela y las comunidades parroquiales.
