Overview

We are seeking a professional and responsible Bus Driver to serve as a back-up in the case our
main Bus Driver is out on sick leave or vacation. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving
skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to the safety of our students. This
role offers an opportunity to work with children ensuring safe and reliable transportation while
fostering positive interactions.

Duties

• Safely operate a school bus in accordance with traffic laws and school policies.
• Transport school children on scheduled routes and deliver them safely to their final destination.
• Assist school children with boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed for children, especially younger children.
• Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, performing basic mechanical checks (if needed) and reporting any issues promptly.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and behavior management techniques to ensure passenger safety at all times.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and supervisors to coordinate schedules and address concerns.
• Keep accurate records of passenger counts and vehicle maintenance logs as required.
• Foster a welcoming environment through excellent customer service and positive interactions.

Skills

• Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance basics.
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving our diverse parents and students.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to manage behavior effectively in various passenger situations.
• Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and reliability; experience with school bus driving is advantageous.
• Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
• Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Compensation

Hourly rate is based on work experience.
