A Saint Joseph School eighth-grader who aspires to work in the medical field got a taste of local government when she served Oct. 17 as an honorary member of the Berkeley County Commission – WV.
Alexis Dinh, 13, heard the five commissioners and county administrator discuss a range of topics, including changes in employment status for various county workers; updates to traffic patterns; park improvements; and a ribbon cutting at the area’s newest rehabilitation facility.
Before the governing body took a short recess, Dinh told the members that she has been in two plays and the choir during her time at SJS.
“I like cooking and sleeping,” Dinh said before telling the commissioners that she hopes to work in the medical realm like her mother, who is a nurse.
