Saint Joseph School placed sixth in West Virginia among schools participating in the Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser for the 2023-24 academic year.
Through the American Heart Association program, students and families learned about staying strong in body and mind and raised funds to help people with special hearts.
SJS raised $11,728 under the leadership of physical education teacher Meghan Gochenour and earned a Heart of Gold Top School certificate from the AHA. Pictured here are Gochenour, left, sharing the Heart of Gold certificate with Principal Maria Byrd during the school assembly on Sept. 6.
Other Eastern Panhandle schools that made the state’s top 10 in the fundraiser were Shepherdstown Elementary School, fifth with $15,052; Bunker Hill Elementary School, eighth with $11,241; and Spring Mills Primary School, 10th with $10,418.
Congratulations to all!
